At the ocean bottom at a depth of three kilometers pressure three times greater than the top. Marine snow need many months to get down on the seabed surface. Away from the rocky coast of continents , the bottom of the world ocean stretches for thousands of kilometers and gradually sinks down .

 

On the seabed , in the sludge are seen faint traces , signs that even here there is life . Who are the inhabitants of the seabed ?

 

Underwater and on the ocean floor is rich and diverse. So , sea urchins sitting on the ocean floor , screened sludge deposits . Shrimp, elegantly standing on tiptoe , fastidiously plucked pieces of food that come across them .

 

And in the deep sea , as everywhere else , if there are grazers , there are hunters . Monkfish almost unrecognizable among the sand on which it lies . He does not waste energy chasing it attracts prey bait ? If necessary, he can wait for days until the food will swim right size .

 

Scavengers have to move to find food . Crabs are able to recognize the slightest taste in the water, and it helps them to quickly find the body that fell from above. Acne also feed on the corpses of dead inhabitants of the underwater world. Once any inanimate body, coming into the ocean , sink to the bottom of the sea , over the next few hours will be a crazy competition between fans of all kinds of carrion . Everyone wants to grab their share. After all, it is for them a matter of life and death.

 

Another one of the inhabitants of the seabed - Nautilus . He spends his days hiding four hundred meters depth , but at nightfall he rises to the reefs in search of food . His graceful shell contains gas-filled chamber , control its depth. Shellfish swims against water jets that flies out of the siphon , but because the shell floats ahead , he can not see where it floats . His closest living relatives - squid and octopus - in the course of evolution , both lost its shell , and the octopus has become one of the largest predators. This master of disguise . Nautilus kept away from him . His little tentacles armed with highly chemical sensors that can detect traces of both predators and prey. He uses his water jet to dig in the sand . Because he spends so little energy , it needs to be fed only once a month. At daybreak they go into deeper water, and at nightfall , without losing vigilance , they are looking for plankton of small fish .
