Brazil is the most economically developed country in Latin America. Brazil's economy is characterized by modern development of the agricultural and industrial production, the modern mining industry and massive the services sector. By its own production in the country is provided to 90 % of the domestic demand for manufactured goods. Demand on machinery and equipment is met by more than 80 %. A number of competitive Brazilian goods (aircraft, buses, cars, trucks, tractors, road-building machinery, power equipment, electrical and electronic equipment, etc.) are supplied to the world market. One of the specific features of the Brazilian economy in recent years is the rapid development of its world economic relations.
Under the agreement Statoil and Rosneft will set
up joint ventures, with Statoil holding 33.33% in each. The partners
will jointly explore the Perseevsky licence in the Russian part of the
Central Barents Sea and three licences north of Sakhalin Island in the
Sea of Okhotsk - the Kashevarovsky, Lisyansky and Magadan 1.
Statoil will fund the initial exploration necessary to determine the
commercial value of the four licences. In addition the two companies
will conduct joint technical studies on two onshore Russian assets -
one in West Siberia Statoil and one in the Stavropol area in south-western
Russia. The cooperation agreement also provides Rosneft with an opportunity
to acquire interests in selected Statoil exploration licences and assets
in the North Sea as well as in the Norwegian sector of the Barents Sea.
As the first step to implement the strategic cooperation, on 21 June
2012 Rosneft and Statoil signed agreements on joint bidding for exploration
licenses in the Norwegian Barents Sea and on joint technical evaluation
covering two Russian onshore assets. Later the heads of the two companies
signed Shareholder and Operating Agreements that will establish joint
ventures for the four offshore Russian license areas included in the
cooperation agreement.
Cooperation with Rosneft is an important milestone in Statoil’s exploration
activity supporting the company’s ambition to expand its engagement
with Russian partners and build a strong long-term position in Russia.
What is about Brazil?
In Brazil and Russia have great prospects for trade
relations. Brazil now ranks first as the largest trading partner of
Russia in Latin America, and generally among the major trading partners
in the world. In recent years between Brazil and Russia have developed
a business relationship that would benefit both countries. Currently
bilateral trade is more than $ 4 billion; it has the tendency to sustained
growth. It is important that this turnover is not developed here as
developing now - on the simplest way, when they go to mere supply of
raw materials or agricultural products from Brazil or fertilizer from
the Russian Federation - and became the most high-tech and included
discover new and interesting projects.
But our mutual trade and investment flows can and should continue to
grow. We have to go beyond just trade in commodities, we must export
goods to each other with the greatest possible added value. Russia could
supply us with equipment for new businesses, which are now being built
in Brazil, we would also count on the participation of Russia and the
Russian experience in the construction of railways in Brazil and other
infrastructure works. You can also note the enormous potential and business
and technical cooperation in the field of biofuels, as well as biotechnology,
space exploration, information and military technology.
Countries reaffirm their willingness to encourage large-scale mutual
investments and joint Russian-Brazilian enterprises. Also establish
a rapport between the sanitary services of the two countries will enhance
trade in agricultural and livestock products. Trade and economic relations
between Russia and Brazil is inconceivable except in combination with
all of the Latin American economies in the region, as Brazil is its
integral and important part. Brazil is one of the strategic partners
not only in Latin America but also in the world.
Countries cooperate in organizations such as the UN and the BRICS. The
countries of the many interesting projects and pans, and very good prospects.
What is about Norway?
Economic relations between Russia and Norway are strong and dynamic. They have developed steadily since the disintegration of the Soviet Union. The main point of contact is the Russian-Norwegian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Industrial and Scientific-Technical Cooperation. Politicians and authorities have close contact through meetings in working groups, seminars, consultations and ongoing negotiations. The scope of dialogue is broad with cooperation in almost all spheres of economic activity: energy, fisheries, R&D, tourism, maritime issues, financial issues, etc. We are also constantly developing measures to enhance cross border cooperation in the north.
Russia is an interesting and important market for Norwegian business. Common trade amounted to about $3 billion last year (up 33 percent from 2009). Russia is one of Norway's main trading partners, and the most important market for seafood.
Russia and Norway have entered into a partnership for modernization, where we have identified a number of areas with particular potential for strengthened cooperation. In realizing this partnership and making it sustainable, however, it is need to involve commercial companies in developing new initiatives. It is attached importance to facilitating the strengthening of predictable and solid framework conditions for international business that will encourage Norwegian companies to enhance their trade investment opportunities in Russia, which in turn will result in an increase in bilateral economic cooperation.
The Russian economy has developed significantly over the recent years. This development has contributed to an improved framework for business and development of new arenas of cooperation. The business cooperation across the border between Norway and Russia has increased due to these changes. At The Norwegian Barents Secretariat Norse aim to facilitate this border-crossing cooperation.
Russia is a big market with several interesting business opportunities. The fact that Russia, compared to Norway is an efficiency driven economy, towards Norway’s innovation driven economy, creates great opportunities in the field of business. The fact that Russia currently is in constant change contributes to an environment consisting of risk due to low predictability and transitory conditions. Therefore the optimizing of opportunities, combined with minimization of threats, can be achieved through thorough planning, understanding of Russian culture and knowledge about how to undertake opportunities in the Russian market.
From the beginning the business cooperation between Norway and Russia has been an important pillar in the Barents cooperation. The Norwegian Barents Secretariat is promoting Norwegian interests in the Russian part of the Barents region. The areas of focus are exploitation and refining of natural resources like oil and gas, ore and minerals, and also fish and other maritime resources. The contribution from the Norwegian Barents Secretariat will be given through support for reports, contribution to creation of networking opportunities or support to concrete business projects.
