As you see the teams are ready for the competition. The members of each team understand that modern life is impossible without books. Books are really one of the greatest inventions of man. Whatever we do, wherever we go, we always need a true friend and a good teacher. This friend and teacher for us is a book.

Ведучий: Well, each team has a magic basket with 3 questions. The captain of the rivals takes them out one by one and then your team will think the question over and give the answer after a minute’s discussion.

КОНКУРС № 3 – ДОМАШНЄ ЗАВДАННЯ
Ведучий: Our next competition is “Home-Task” under the title “In the World of Literary Characters”. Each team will dramatise an episode from “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” and “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” by J. K. Rowling, and the jury will evaluate their acting and choose the best actors.
From “Harry Potter and the philosopher’s Stone”
Mr. Dursley might have been drifting into an uneasy sleep, but the cat on the wall outside was showing no sign of sleepiness. It was sitting as still as a statue, its eye fixed unblinkingly on the far corner of Privet Drive. A man appeared on the corner the cat had been watching. Nothing like this man had ever been seen on Privet Drive. He was tall, thin, and very old, judging by the silver of his hair and beard, which both were very long. He was wearing long robes and a purple cloak that swept the ground. This man’s name was Albus Dumbledore. He set off down the street toward number four, where he sat down on the wall next to the cat. Hi did not look at it, but after a moment, he spoke to it.
“Fancy seeing you here, Professor McGonagall”.
He turned to smile at the tabby, but it had gone. Instead, he was smiling at a rather severe-looking woman who was wearing square glasses exactly the shape of the markings the cat had around his eyes. She, too, was wearing a cloak. An emerald one.
“I must have passed a dozen feasts and parties on my way here”, he said. Professor McGonagall sniffed angrily.
“Oh yes, everyone’s celebrating all right. You’d think they’d be more careful”.
“You can’t blame them. We have had precious little to celebrate for eleven years. Voldemort seems to have disappeared”.
Professor MsGonagall shot a sharp look at Dumbledore and said.
“You know what everyone’s saying? About why he’s disappeared? About what finally stopped him? What they are saying is that last night Voldemort turned up in Godric’s Hollow. He went to find the Potters. The rumor is that Lily and James Potter are – are – that they are – dead. They are saying he tried to kill the Potter’s son, Harry. But – he couldn’t. He couldn’t kill that little boy. No one knows why or how, but they’re saying that when he couldn’t kill Harry Potter, Voldemort’s power somehow broke – and that’s why he’s gone. It’s astounding… he couldn’t kill a little boy. And I don’t suppose you’re going to tell me why you’re here, of all places?”
“I’ve come to bring Harry to his aunt and uncle. They are the only family he has left now”.
“You don’t mean – you can/t mean the people who live here. These people will never understand him! He’ll be famous – a legend – I wouldn’t be surprised if today was known as Harry Potter in the future – there will be books written about Harry – every child in our world will known his name!”.
“Exactly”, said Dumbledore, looking very seriously!
“Famous before he can walk or talk! Famous for something he won’t even remember! Can’t you see how much better off he’ll be, growing up away from all that until he’s ready to take it?”. “Yes – yes, you’re right, of course”.
From “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”
It took Harry several days to get used to his strange new freedom. Never before had he been able to get up whenever he wanted or eat whatever he fancied. He even could go wherever he liked.
Harry ate breakfast each morning in the Leaky Cauldron, where he liked watching the other guests: funny little witches from the country, up for a day’s shopping; wild-looking warlocks, raucous dwarfs.
Harry spent the long sunny days exploring the shops and eating under the brightly coloured umbrellas outside cafes, where his fellow dinners were showing each other their purchases. There were things that Harry needed to buy. Most important of all, he had to
buy his new school books, which would include those for his two new subjects, Care of Magic Creatures and Divination.
Harry got a surprise as he looked in at the bookshop window. Instead of the usual display of gold-embossed spell books, there was a large iron cage behind the glass which held about a hundred copies of “The Monster Book of Monsters”. Torn pages were flying everywhere as the books grapped with each other, locked together in furious wrestling matches and snapping aggressively.
As Harry entered Flourish and Blotts, the manager came hurrying towards him.
“Hogwarts?” he said abruptly. “Come to get your new books?”
“Yes”, said Harry. “I need -”
“Get out of the way”, said the manager impatiently brushing Harry aside. He drew on a pair of very thick gloves, picked up a large walking stick and proceeded towards the door of the Monster Books’ cage.
“Hang on”, said Harry quickly, “I’ve already got one of those”.
“Have you?” A look of enormous relief spread over the manager’s face. “Thank heavens for that. I’ve been bitten five times already this morning”.
A loud ripping noise rent the air; two of the Monster Books had seized a third and were pulling it apart.
“Stop it! Stop it!” cried the manager, poking the walking stick through the bars and knocking the books apart. “I am never stocking them again, never! I thought we’d seen the worst when we bought two hundred copies of “The Invisible Book of Invisibility” – cost a fortune, and we never found them… Well, is there anything else I can help you with?”
“Yes”, said Harry, looking down his booklist. “I need Unfogging the Future, by Cassandra Vablatsky”.
“Here you are”, said the manager, who had climbed a set of steps to take down a thick, black-bound book. “Unfogging the Future. Very good guide to all your basic fortune-telling methods – palmistry, crystal balls, bird entrails…”
Harry emerged from Flourisg and Blotts ten minutes later with his new books under his arms, and made his way back to the Leaky Cauldron.

КОНКУРС № 4 – КОНКУРС КАПІТАНІВ

Ведучий: It’s no doubt that books are an important and necessary thing for our civilization. They are not only a way of relaxation, but they play a major role in shaping our cultural life. The books broaden our outlook, develop our artistic taste, deliver a lot of useful information. Books differ in their kinds: there are novels, poetry and drama, ballades and fairy tales, picture books and detectives. Books about great people teach us to be hard-working. Books about famous travelers teach us to be brave, honest and noble. And fairy-tales teach us no to be lazy and naughty. Some people read for instruction, some for pleasure.
“Choose an author as you choose a friend” – a proverb says. So, the first task of the competition of the captains is as follows: each Captain should tell us some facts from his favourite author’s biography without naming him. His rival should guess the name.
STORY 1
His name is Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, and he was born on 27th January, 1832. He was educated at Richmond School in Yorkshire, Rugby School and Christ Church, Oxford. From 1855 to 1881 he was a lecturer of mathematics at Oxford, where he was a somewhat eccentric and withdrawn character. He was most comfortable when being with children, especially little girls in whose company his usual stammer completely disappeared.
His most famous works are “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” (published in 1865) which he wrote to entertain Alice Liddell, daughter of the dean of Christ Church, and the sequel “Alice Through the Looking-Glass” which appeared in 1872. In 1869 he published “Phantasmagoria and Other Poems”, an entertaining collection comprising thirteen humorous poems and thirteen serious ones. In 1876 a long nonsense poem, “The Hunting of the Shark”, appeared. In 1885 came “A Tangled Tale”, designed to interest children in mathematics. 1889 saw the publication of the fairy story “Sylvie and Bruno”, and its sequel “Sylvie and Bruno Concluded” was published in 1893.
He wrote many other nonsense poems and books, as well as mathematical works
which appeared under his own name. He died of bronchitis in his sisters’ home in
Guildford on 14th July, 1898.
STORY 2
Her nicknames are Jo to family and friends, JK to fans and Jake to friends who want to annoy and tease her about the “JK” title. She was teased about her last name with things like “rolling pin” and “Rolling Stone” while growing up. Her initials J.K. Rowling were used because the publisher feared boys wouldn’t want to read the Harry Potter adventures if they knew they were written by a woman.
She was born in 1965. Jo has said she was a “pudding-faced child with glasses, and rather studious; a shy, snotty, swotty little kid and very insecure”. Her favourite school subjects were English and languages. The first story she wrote down (when she was five or six) was about a rabbit called Rabbit. He got measles and was visited by his friends, including a giant bee called Miss Bee.
At the age of twenty-six Jo went to Portugal and taught children English as a second language. She later taught French in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The idea to write about Harry Potter came to Jo in 1990. She completed the first book over a five year period. She wrote at cafes, on trains, while her little baby slept in a carriage nearby. There will be seven books in this series.

КОНКУРС № 4 – КОНКУРС УБОЛІВАЛЬНИКІВ
Ведучий: And now, dear friends, let’s have a competition for the fans. All of you are fond of reading books. So, on the back wall of the stage you can see the portraits of English and American writers and illustrations for their books. Match the portraits with the illustrations and recall the names of the main characters of the books.
Після конкурсу вболівальників лічильна комісія підбиває підсумки та оголошує команду-переможницю.
Ведучий: Well, we congratulate the winners, thank the jury and the fans for their fruitful work and support and look forward to our next meeting.
Висновки: третя глава дипломної роботи присвячена розгляду різних форм позакласної роботи по ІМ і виявленню педагогічних характеристик цих форм. Нині в позакласній роботі по ІМ є багато можливостей для розвитку творчого потенціалу школярів. Особливо ефективними є практичні факультативні заняття і різні ігри. Крім того, ми проаналізували роль засобів масової інформації в позакласній роботі по ІМ, розглянули ігрові форми позакласної роботи, а також дали методичні рекомендації по кожній формі позакласної роботи по ІМ. Розглянули різні види позакласних заходів такі як ранки, вечори, концерти, конкурси і олімпіади. Написала захід з позакласної роботи. У практичній частині мною був розроблений позакласний захід з іноземної мови: Турнір допитливих “Books in our life”. У програму турніру було включено: прислів’я, загадки, портрети письменників виконання інсценованих пісень, опис серії гумористичних пісень, різні конкурси.
Висновки
Моя дипломна робота була присвячена темі «Розвиток навичок говоріння під час проведення позакласних заходів» є однією з найактуальніших тем в сучасній методиці навчання іноземної мови. Говоріння – це продуктивний вид мовної діяльності, за допомогою якої (спільно з аудіювання) здійснюється усне вербальне спілкування. Змістом говоріння є вираження думок в усній формі. У основі говоріння лежать вимовні, лексичні, граматичні навички. У більшості методів навчання говорінню є одним з найважливіших напрямів викладання. Говоріння є вираження своїх думок в цілях рішення завдань спілкування. Важливо пам’ятати, що в результаті діяльності говоріння виникає його продукт – висловлювання. І як діяльність, і як продукт говоріння має певні ознаки, які служать орієнтиром в навчанні, оскільки підказують, які умови треба створити для розвитку говоріння, а також є критеріями оцінки результатів навчання. Створення атмосфери говоріння на уроці багато в чому залежить від організації співрозмовників, тобто від того, яка форма організації використовується: індивідуальна, парні, групова, хорова або колективна. Учителі іноземної мови стали знаходити більш дієві і цікавіші методи навчання, значно покращуючи знання, навички і уміння учнів з іноземної мови, особливо по говорінню. Усі види роботи з говорінню як в класі, так і в позакласних заходах, підвищують інтерес учнів до англійської мови, оскільки вони бачать застосування теоретичних знань з практики. За допомогою говорінню проводять позакласні заходи. При проведенні позакласних заходів учні спілкуються між собою.
